Together Time

My love craves sweet together time
For life affirms emotions bared

As if stars shine like Coldplay lines
My love craves sweet together time
On beachfront sand we lay supine
One soul suspends like salt in air
My love craves sweet together time
For life affirms emotions bared

Seaward Sent ( #oneshotwednesday poetry )

Posted in Image Poetry, One Stop Poetry with tags , , , , , , , , , , on February 15, 2011 by dustus

Eroding shoreline—noxious cloud
Bloody chum fed to sharks
After being asked out of love
Lampoons knife hooked hearts

Assailing claims this sodden course
Frail lists from sunk outpost
Unlike this boat, some ships won’t float
Seaward sent; blowhard boasts

What I believe remains naive
Low tide for trips not smart
Waiving emotion, capsized grief
No lighthouse guide through dark

Garbage Dumps – (for #oneshotwednesday )

Posted in One Stop Poetry, Poetry with tags , , , , , , , , , on February 8, 2011 by dustus

Garbage Dumps

When only for a second care
Realize you’re trashing life
Dispatching unacceptable
Won’t make me feel alright

Damp landing filled with fecund will
Truth in fiction taken
There’s something rotting through stank pulp
Burnt stakes may awaken

Congealing molds incubate colds
Scared crows peck for hours
Decaying matter breaks rank ground
Garbage dumps sprout flowers

“Bermuda Urn”

Posted in Image Poetry, One Stop Poetry, Poetry Reading, Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on January 25, 2011 by dustus

When is life held in gold russet skies?
Vermilion glows, seagull glides…
Or cremation of muscle pulp
Mortar and pestled brain
Grains of sand trapped
Fevered oasis, metempsychosis
Cuticles and burnt hands
Without explanation as to how
We crawl from water, withstand
Nor why free radicals spread illness
Universal mitosis, for giving, then taking,
Our time…

Your body could not win that fight
Razed to die, its own undoing

Condensed via fire into a “Bermuda Urn”
Calling it that throughout your hurt
One lifetime more than a story…
Prior to sailing north of cancer

Her wit seldom lost then
Leaving me now without her laughter

Ex rays, cat scans, biopsies, skin grafts
Vomit, holding her hair back
Malignant ugly purplish bruising
Red bandanna covering bald head
Still meaning each word, every single thing
When I said that you were beautiful
Won’t forget those long drives
Venting for lest it drain in truth

Trips over The Ambassador Bridge
Both loving Vonnegut

Trying not to go broke dying
PT, OT, loss of limb
Watching her struggle on prosthetic leg
Her arm shook supported by cane
Painfully—self-awareness of living unable

Sadly, cursing fate
And all lifelong “friends”
Who out of convenience

Walked away

Before her fatal conclusion; there was a will
She planned a “Bermuda Urn” in pink ink

That made me squint at the torn spiral page
For herself spread, becoming over ocean

Immunity being without design here
Unlike a box of Wheaties, Shredded Wheat
“So it goes…”  Incomplete
You were my champion
In the throes of cosmic jokes
Left in trade winds of connection
Charred vestiges of insanity
Love, I’ll always miss you
Wishing you would come back to me

The Serpent Coil

Posted in Image Poetry, One Stop Poetry with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on January 18, 2011 by dustus

The following post is for One Shot Wednesday is my response to the latest Bookstains Challenge. This challenge takes an abstract form— considering Barbara Hepworth’s untitled sculpture as the source of poetic inspiration… (read more)

Fetal positioned squinting eyes
Beginning life shock—that burning light
Swaddled in newspaper sterility
Spinning backward, sleet rain, movie reels flipping
Maddening sway, she shifts her hips
Fool me blush and licking lips
In totem stockings run from pain
This living through
Your bit insane

Metallic tasting molars
Tin foiled, tempered stealing
Collide in scope stains as
Color wheels spinning
Through imagined laughter of Goethe
Inspiration from Whitman
Lucky to be alive
Once again

Crawling clumsily through nothingness
Past streaming years, recalling anger, swallowed tears
Among the branded tracks & spineless backs
Wrenched in clutching sadness, shading leaves
Serpentine madness, mineral evergreen
Quivering half-bent upon bathroom floor
Eying grime, filth clings to belly
When the walls cave your heart
Unmoved, mind stirring
Forgetting all that past as learning
This lowly love
When song born again

Apple stands, seedless core
Black almond shaped smoker’s trache
Peeling back the serpent coil
Piano wire fangs puncture
Harp string strung out desire
Reddened to appeal, bon appétit
Search to feel when incomplete
These corrosives kill
Through core of earth
Our sphere surreal
Until dusk from birth
