Our Love Song

Posted in Poetry with tags , , , , on June 6, 2019 by dustus

Love, I know you’re right
When you tease that I’m not wrong
It took too long to realize
That Life is our love song

I heard you’re free
And now I know
You’re spirited & strong
Still I would rather die alone
Then simply just move on

A world of hate could kill us
Time mends the worst of harm
Still we could block out all the pain
In each others healing arms

It’s you & me
Nobody else
Love will make that call
Still I’ll be there to catch you
If you should ever fall

Dawn

thetorch

I see her smile in my dreams
Making up lost time
She whispers that she’ll never leave
‘Til dawn wakes up my mind

I wonder where this vision goes
And rather close both eyes
For another glimpse of heaven
Which seems fleeting like our lives

In Love Again

I’d give anything to laugh, my friend
Feel new life in love again
Pluck bluebells for your bouquet
Smell May flowers as we lay

Upon spread quilt, mid-afternoon
Wind song plays inspired tunes
Her hands caress away iced pain
Under cherry blossom rain

And as we cling like shaking leaves
Our journeys end with sharing peace
In love again, this breathing bliss
There is no time lost while we kiss

Together Time

My love craves sweet together time
For life affirms emotions bared

As if stars shine like Coldplay lines
My love craves sweet together time
On beachfront sand we lay supine
One soul suspends like salt in air
My love craves sweet together time
For life affirms emotions bared

She Loved Me Too (Flash Fiction 55 — One Stop Poetry Challenge)

Posted in Flash Fiction, Image Poetry, One Shoot, One Stop Poetry with tags , , , , , , , on January 16, 2011 by dustus

*The following poem is offered in response to the One Stop Poetry Sunday Picture Prompt Challenge. This wonderful prompt was shot by photographer Kathryn Forbes, featured today on One Shoot Photography Sunday. Come check out some great shots & the interview!

We had chemistry ninth period under sweaty florescence and mutual distraction. My heart spun centrifuge-like into exhausted dreams of Katie. Standing on her parents’ porch, I approach in slow-motion. Her freckled smile, glistening chestnut eyes, smelling strawberry Jolly Rancher, auburn hair tangled and sun kissed. I stuttered. Nerves trembling when she said she loved me too.
