Sacrificing a Sacred Cow

Trough licked clean
Lathed scythe poised glinting
Bovine lulls
Ruminates…
Not knowing its blood shall let
Their cloudless sky rain

Two Worlds Astray

Posted in Poetry, writing with tags , , , , , on June 11, 2019 by dustus

A golden couple strolls down the street
Hand in hand, they’re pace is slow
Grinning through a warm ocean breeze
Laughing from an inside joke

About five yards away & approaching fast
A much younger couple’s getting close
Respectively, they’re staring down
Twiddling thumbs on phones

The older gentleman cautions them–
A fair warning so they’ll look up
Then the younger guy bumps into him
And shouts, “Old Man, shut the fuck up!”

The younger lady twiddles on unconcernedly
Skipping no beat as she texts down the street…
As the older woman pulls her husband aside
Holds both his hands down,
And then kisses his cheek

So the golden couple shakes their heads
They’re laughing again–
Willing to go out of their way
While the younger couple
Sticks to their phones
Together, yet two worlds astray

Ghostwriter haunts home—
haiku
Strobes light, slams doors; book shelves crash

Fogged chair rocks laughing

Radioactive Water to a Whale

Posted in Poetry, writing with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on June 8, 2019 by dustus

A Con Artist had sold
Radioactive water to a Whale
Who then crapped Titanic Turdbergs
So no ships could ever sail

The people were livid
The coastguard got pissed
Nobody could swim
Those turds killed all the fish!

A myriad of sea-life
Suffered mass genocide:
Lobster, otter, shark, crab
All plants & octopi

Manatees…. gone
No turtles survived
Seals chose to cliff-dive
To hasten their demise

This carnage spread far worse than
Any epic algae bloom
Birds perished in mid-air
From mad wafting toxic fume

Tourism soon died
Commercial ports had shut down
& the Con Artist counted (while laughing aloud):
Every last clam that Whale had shelled out–
He hoped to find pearls
Prying open their mouths

As for that sick Whale
While he took his last breath
He knew he’d been poisoned
By the real Moby-Dick

SuperCaliFatalisticNeedToActAtrocious
GodIDetestThisSideOfMeThatActsSoBraggadocious….

He flew back to the lab
Toting pens and a pad
Toked purps ’til he choked
Tripped balls; couldn’t stand

He awoke, stretched, & yawwwwwn’d…
From a brief power nap
But like kicked grams of ash
Mad skills had collapsed

Having realized the title
Had already changed hands
It was time to acknowledge
He’d reached his wit’s end

With his heart beside self
He cried,”skill please comeback!”
While his spirit felt grief, loss,
and ego attacked

His pants still on fire
Their pyre still seethed
‘Cause the truth about fire:
Burns twice once you leave
