The Mind’s Eye

Posted in Blogging Awards, Image Poetry, One Stop Poetry with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 7, 2010 by dustus

Stare into these mystical eyes
Motion tween the shutter finds
Amid blinks of human passerbys
Visualize an empty mind

Open third skylight
Main being reclined
Breathing swell & then subsides

Calm frights at rest
There is no better
Feeling set open
You don’t remember
Time past life
This year, September
Homesickness
Can’t last
Going on
Forever

Captive on display
Prison echos shook
Rattling chains
Spectator looks
Tranquil, tased, electric hooks
Fish bowl, space drained, peace tamed, life took

Hours our minutes
Existence fades with sleep
Becoming accustomed
Keep living this dream

There are many zones
Perspective agreements
Representations from memory
Forever held secrets

From beyond recall
Initial blank wall
Comfort and love
Banished withdrawal

Wondrous emotions
Once ran away
Every fond moment
Remains etched in the brain

Thought after all
What’s there to mind?
Circadian beats?
Wind through chimes?
Repeating rhymes?
Your heart in time?
Still life seems best
When you unwind

I am happy to share this poem (my 350th post!) for both Jingle’s Thursday Poetry Rally & One Shot Wednesday!

Thanks for the awards and visiting my blog. The rallys have been outstanding & I’m proud to participate every chance I get. Thanks, Jingle! Your fantastic Thursdays bring people together.

My nominee(s) this week are Brian Miller, Leslie Moondustwriter, and Pete Marshall. The reason I select them all is because they have worked very hard to create One Stop. Cheers!

Next, thank you, Heartspell, for selecting me as The Perfect Poet after the last rally. Appreciate that honor. I look forward to returning for the next rally.

Is This Thing On? (Flash Fiction 55)

Is This Thing On?

my friend Bruce
his fiancée Wendy
both lawyers
ridiculous how they argue
non-stop one-upping each other
excruciating to watch
before their wedding
Bruce drafts a pre-nup
Wendy promptly adds a “no-insertion clause”
…having met on Couples.com
I must admit
they certainly are quite the match—
Wendy repeatedly strikes Bruce until he flares up
thank you
goodnight
