Anew Yesterday
You will know love
Being held snugly
Against old hearts
For many years
We disappeared
Family living
Split apart
Surprised filled eyes
Fear swept aside
Watching sweet giggles
Coo-drooling sighs
Mesmerized by startled tears
Attentive to her raging cries
Discovering inspired cheers
A warming glow had spread inside
Igniting hearts & sleepless minds
Anew yesterday
She helped us find
Connecting fond feelings
Reuniting our lives

September 28, 2010 at 4:13 pm
If ever there was a good time for a celebratory poem, it is for events such as this. There is a very gentle kindness in your poem. Unity of cause seems to be a central theme here, and it works well with the subject matter. Very soothing experience.
crb.
September 29, 2010 at 1:40 pm
Very kind of you, crb
September 28, 2010 at 4:39 pm

September 28, 2010 at 6:09 pm
But it isn’t until we hold those young new hearts that we realize how aged ours really are isn’t it? Loved the perspective with old hearts here, set the tone for a true love for life throughout the rest of the poem.
September 29, 2010 at 2:21 pm
Exactly, she made me very aware of the passage of time; though mostly in a good way.

First off, how are you doing? Been thinking of you and hope things are getting a little better for you and your fam. Email me when you get a chance.
You just made my day. Also, calling me Brian is a complimentโmakes me think my writing’s improving ๐
Miss ya.
September 28, 2010 at 7:37 pm
Your writing is fine my friend. I am doing fine, but I do have my good days and I have my bad days. I miss Larry so much, but I am pouring myself into my church work and also spend my days helping families who has a love one with cancer. I wrote a poem to send to the VA since they don’t seem to care our Vietnam servicemen are dying from being exposed to Agent Orange. I will share it with you. I think about you too Adam. You are a fine young man and I am proud and honor to have you for a friend. Hugs Viola
A Widowโs Pain
The loneliness I feel leaves me empty inside,
Since my soul mate became sick and died.
Alone in the darkness, I canโt control my tears,
While in the day time, I do not show my fears.
I try to be strong and help my family each day,
As I pray the pain I feel will soon go away.
At times I feel so angry that cancer took his life,
Exposed to Agent Orange caused him much strife.
He fought in Vietnam for what he thought was right,
Our soldiers didnโt give up without a brave fight.
Twenty two years for our country, he stood true.
The damage the war caused, the doctors couldnโt undo.

Viola, I’m glad you’ve continued to write poems to deal with your loss. I read your poem with great sadness, recalling what your family went through. The last two lines make my eyes tear.
I am very proud that you are helping families with loved ones who have cancer. You’re a special person who understands what they are going through. Your actions are admirable.
You’re in my thoughts and are missed.
hugs
